Fondation Recherche Alzheimer
In 2023, Alzheimer’s disease affected more than a million people in France. Nearly four million people suffer because of this disease daily considering the impact on the families and loved ones of those affected. Faced with this societal challenge, the Fondation Recherche Alzheimer, an officially recognized nonprofit organization, plays a crucial role in supporting research to improve diagnoses, slow the progression of the disease, and, hopefully, find a cure.
The Fondation Recherche Alzheimer: A Pillar of Research
Founded in 2004 by Professor Bruno Dubois and Doctor Oliver de Ladoucette, the Fondation Recherche Alzheimer has become the leading private sponsor of Alzheimer’s research in France. For nearly twenty years, the organization has contributed three to four million euros a year to research projects aimed at better understanding the disease and developing innovative treatments. Its actions focus on four main areas: supporting the best research teams, advancing collaboration across Europe, helping French researchers acquire high-tech equipment and awarding grants to young doctoral students.
Major Research Projects
The Fondation facilitates leading research projects, including the work of Professor Kaj Blennow, a world expert in biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. He is a visiting Professor at the Institut du Cerveau et de la Moelle épinière (ICM), at the Hôpital de la Pitié Salpêtrière. His mission is to cultivate a center of excellence for research, development and clinical applications of fluid biomarkers. This kind of project underscores the importance of innovation and collaboration in the international fight against Alzheimer’s.
Towards a Revolution in Alzheimer’s Research
The projects supported by the Fondation in 2023 bring together groundbreaking methods for a global understanding of the disease. By integrating biochemical, advanced imaging, and genetic research perspectives, these projects aim to lay foundations for the development of new treatments. With the support of the Dassault Group, the Fondation is better equipped to carry out these ambitious projects, which blend scientific expertise with technological advances.
Joining Forces to Advance Research
A gala dinner will be held at the Hôtel Marcel Dassault in November 2024 to engage doners and raise funds through table sales and an auction of unique and exceptional prizes.
The Dassault Group shares the Fondation Recherche Alzheimer’s values of innovation and excellence, and actively supports the Fondation and its teams to strengthen its capacities for research and innovation in France. Aiming to accelerate scientific discoveries and translate these research advances into concrete solutions for patients, this commitment will make a significant impact in the field.
Together, by combining innovation, commitment, and excellence, we can further improve research and increase the quality of life of those affected by the disease.
